Bulbocodium vernum L.

Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen           A very rare forest-steppe and boreal-subalpine species. Formerly it was thought there are two species in this genus, a western European boreal-subalpine one, Bulbocodium vernum L. and another forest-steppe eastern European Bulbocodium versicolor (Ker.-Gawl.)Spreng. Recent studies performed by dr. Gergely Gulyas clearly proved that despite the ecological vicariance they are in fact the very same taxon.
