Centaurea melanocalathia Borbas

Flora Europaea (treated as a subspecies of C.phrygia L.) perennial, H mesic, from upper nemoral to boreal eastern Alpine-Carpathian Arrhenatherion R38 from the upper nemoral and boreal belts, R3701-3707 habitats       This species is a mountainous counterpart of Centaurea phrygia with large appendages which completely cover the involucral bracts.
